Apprenticeship are offered as

- Trainee Technicians
- HVM Apprentice Scheme
All apprenticeships offered by the Defence Forces are recoignised by FAS
For all methods of entry into the Permanent Defence Forces there are standards laid down. These standards may vary from time to time. Conditions of entry are published before certain competitions. Candidates for entry into the Defence Forces must be in good physical and mental health. Standards are normally specified in the competition conditions.
