The Minister for Justice, Equality & Defence, Mr. Alan Shatter, TD,
Will be visiting the Middle East - Lebanon, Jordan and Israel
From Monday the 25th November to Friday 29th November

The principal reason for the visit is to be present at the “Transfer of Authority” ceremony when the Irish contingent of the joint Irish/ Finnish battalion based with UNIFIL in South Lebanon will transfer authority to the Finnish Defence Forces on November 26th. During the visit the Minister is also scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Ensour in Jordan and his Ministerial counterparts in Lebanon and Israel. He will also receive briefing from Irish Defence Force personnel on the UNDOF and UNTSO missions and he will hear about the impact of the Syrian Refugee crisis from representatives of UNRWA and UNHCR based in the region
