Minister Alan Shatter, T.D. Announces Details Of The Annual 1916 Easter Rising Commemoration Ceremonies Arbour Hill

The President Mary McAleese, An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, T.D. and the Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence Alan Shatter, T.D. will attend the annual 1916 Commemoration Ceremonies in Arbour Hill on Wednesday 4 May 2011. The Ceremony will be led by the President Mary McAleese.

Solemn requiem mass will be offered in the Church of the Most Sacred Heart at 10am for the souls of those who died for Ireland in the 1916 rising. This will be followed by a procession from the church to the memorial. The President will then lay a wreath to commemorate those who died in 1916. A minute silence will be observed followed by the sounding of the last post.

Following the ceremony Minister Shatter, T.D. will host a reception for invited guests, including relatives of the 1916 leaders.

You are invited to send a representative.

Members of the Media wishing to attend are requested to be in position outside the church at 9.30 a.m.
